Emerson/Emberson and Roberson/Robertson/Robinson families from TN
Posted by: Jessie Emerson (ID *****1840) Date: June 26, 2002 at 13:58:54

I am researching the line of George Emerson and Esther Robinson, who appear in our records in the 1830 Lawrence County, Alabama, Census. In the 1850 and 1860 Census (in Marion County, AL), George states that he was born in Virginia.

My theory is that the Emerson or Emberson's moved from Franklin County, TN to Lawrence County, AL with other members of the Robinson/Roberson/Robertson family prior to 1830. George Emerson and others in the Robinson family later moved to Marion County, AL with members of the Shotts family.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks,
Jessie Emerson
