Murder of Lindsey Comings/Cummins

I have just received the following info. Lindsey was my great-great grandfather. I have searched for years to find prove of his murder. Until now it was only family lore. Can anyone provide more info on these two events. I think that the "Old Gentleman" was either Jacob or Spencer. Thanks for any help.
COMINGS, LINDSEY From the Sept. 3, 1875 edition of the Moulton Advertiser in Lawrence Co., AL:
A proclamation by the Governor.. whereas, authentic information has reached this department, that Lindsey Comings was murdered, in the county of Marion, on the 8th day of Feb, 1875, and that Andrew Rush, .John Canady and William Allsup stand charge with said murder, and that said John Canady and William Allsup have absconded and are now at large.

~ ~ COMINGS, OLD GENTLEMAN From the Friday May 30, 1873 edition of the Moulton Advertiser in Lawr. Co., AL:
An old gentleman by the name of Comings was murdered one day last week, near the Lawerence County line. We have not been able to gather any particulars concerning the killings, not even the murderers name
