by looking on the 1880 census it shows alexander's parents as W.A. and Sarah Mitchell. If you look on the 1870 census you will see that W.A. is william. according to the 1880 census alexander was born in Alabama his father william was born in Tennessee. And his mother sarah was born in Alabama. it listed Williams parents as being born in North carolina and Sarahs parents being born (her father) Alabama and (her mother) in South Carolina. The 1880 census also listed their children as William W., John, Ruth A., Henrietta, Benjamin, George, Alexander, Mary, all born in Alabama. Also living with them were David Henson listed as other(Relationship) and Lucy Farmer(Sarah's sister)
