There are some given names that are very common in our Shoemaker family (that are not really such commonly found names), so I thought that if these names are found in your Sara's line then it might help in establishing that she is from our Shoemaker family... The oldest known Shoemaker in our line is Lindsey b abt 1730 in VA, wife unknown... Almost every Shoemaker decendant has a Lindsey in their line in the 1700's and 1800's... Then there are the names Tarleton and Fleming for men and Arabella for the women... Let me know if you show any of these given names in your Carmichael line... Did your Sarah and James stay in Alabama or move to another state?... Are you sure that they married in AL, as there was not much going on in that part of AL before about 1818 or so?... Looking forward to sharing info with you if we can show a relation... Pat
