According to a map of Jefferson Co., Ala. dated 1960, showing sections, townships and ranges. The land owned by Dennis Hawkins in early 1830's was in Section 30, Township 17, Range 3 West. There was only one Section between him and Williamson and Samuel Hawkins who at the same time owned land in S. 28,- T. 17- R. 3 W. This land was in North Birmingham (1960) Hiwy 78 runs north right through the Section 28 where Samuel and Williamson's property was, as does some railroad which also runs through sect . 30., (Dennis's propty) This is just about a mile or two north of another railroad that also runs east-west just south of hiwy 11.
The names of Pratt City was in Section 30 and Thomas was in Sectin 28.
That is the way it was in 1960. One hundred and thirty years prior to that when the 3 Hawkins men owned the same property, it was no doubt a great deal more rural.
Just thought I would supply this interesting bit of information for what is is worth.
