My husband's grandmother was Sarah Jane Roberts, born April 13, 1877, and died July 21, 1942. She is buried in Euclatubba Cemetery, Lee Co., MS. On June 15, 1896, in Winston Co., AL, she married Asa Lee Pearson; they had eight children. This is the total amount of information I have on her. Assuming she was born in Alabama (people didn't travel much back then), I checked the 1880 census and found only one Sarah Jane Roberts born in Alabama in 1877. Family information is as follows: Jesse H. Roberts, married, M, age 41, born in GA, farmer Rebecca Roberts, married, F, age 24, born in AL, keeping house Francis Roberts, single, F, age 16, born in AL Catherine Roberts, single, F, age 12, born in AL Josiah Roberts, single, M, age 10, born in AL William J. Roberts, single, M, age 8, born in AL Samuel Roberts, single, M, age 5, born in AL Sarah J. Roberts, single, F, age 3, born in AL daughter Roberts, single, F, age 4 months, born in AL Census place: Jefferson, AL As I understand it, the 1890 census was destroyed. By 1900 she was, of course, married.......so looking in census records do me no good. Any suggestions? Where to look next? I have searched for her off and on for five years now. I am hoping someone connects with this family of Roberts and can help me prove or disprove the connection. Thanks in advance, Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
