Hi Jim,
I have been trying to connect "your" McGuire's to "my" McGuire's for years. I haven't found the link. However, they were all milling around in the same are of the county; there is bound to be a connection. Here is what I have about J.L. McGuire
HIs Parents:
Davidson McGuire b abt. 1802 in Georgia, died Dec. 14, 1861 in Jefferson County, AL. He married Margaret Kelly bef 1830 in Alabama. She was the daughter of Charles Kelly and Elizabeth Howard. They had eleven children:
1. Mahaly McGuire b. abt 1832, d. est. 1833-1926
2. JOHN L. McGUIRE b. abt 1833 Columbiana, Shelby Co., AL d. est. 1864-1894
3. Alsy F. McGuire b. abt 1837; d. est 1838-1931

6. Hiram McGuire b. abt 1839; d. est. 1840-1929.

3. STEPHEN ARNOLD DOUGHLAS McGUIRE born Sept. 30, 1860, Alabama died February 10, 1942, Pelham, Shelby County, Al. He married ADA T. WILSON February 28, 1883 in Shelby County, Al. (Ada was born 11-19-1885, d. 410-1984: I have seen her tombstone, Barbara)

4. Mary McGuire born August 8, 1888 Shelby Co., Al. died Dec. 28, 1977 Shelby County, AL Married George Walton.
5. Iona McGuire, b. October 27, 1890 Shelby County, AL. died July 30, 1975 Pensacola, FLA. Married 1. Odie Kirkpatrick jan 12, 1907 in Bridgton, Shelby Co., AL. 2. Joseph M. Hardee, est. abt. 1920
6. Jessie Irene McGuire, born Feb. 1896, died 1978 Pelham, AL. Married Richard Evans
7. Annie Louise McGuire born Jan. 18, 1898 died Feb. 1, 1923 Pelham, Al Married Maxwell Laycock.
I found the above material in Vol 2 of Family TreeMaker Family Tree. File 2914. Other descendents are listed, but everything is marked private.
I have visited the Pelham Cemetery, and I have the following McGuire's that I cannot connect. Maybe they will help you.
Cecil McGuire b. 2-14-1885, d. 9-3-1957 He was a Mason and married to Elma D. McGuire b. 4-4-1895, d. 1-15-1988.
I think Cecil was the post master at Pelham during the 1950's.
If, in your search for McGuire's, you find the parents of Charles McGuire who was 22 and a loaborer on the 1850 Jefferson Co., census, I would apreciate you passing along the information.
