I seek information on the McLemores and Billingsleys who lived in Birmingham from early in this century. George Brady McLemore Sr. (1866-1947) married (1889) Janie Gaye Fair (1871?-1947), and they had four children: Georgia Mae (1891-1972; my grandmother), George Brady Jr., Gaye, and Marie. George Sr. and Janie lived on Ann St. in 1917 and later had a large home place at 1502 Saulter Road. Georgia Mae married Claud Billingsley (1886-1937), and they had two children: Brady Mac and Jane Fair (my mother, still living). Georgia and Claud lived on Pine Ridge Road, then on Saulter Road near George Sr. and Janie, and then in Chilton Co. in the 1930s. George Sr. was president of Birmingham Auto Body Company, located at 2008-10 Avenue B. South, in Birmingham. I believe it was a carriage company before it was an auto-body company. The company did truck bodies, passenger bodies, painting, trimming, blacksmithing, body and fender straightening, wheel work, and metal work! George Brady Jr. was secretary and treasurer, and Claud Billingsley was vice president. George Sr.’s parents were Thomas Warren McLemore and Georgia Ann Smoot. Janie Gaye’s parents were James Holley Fair and Mary Alice Elmore. Claud Billingsley’s parents were John Roper Billingsley and Martha <last name unknown>, and his grandparents were Christopher Columbus Billingsley and Nancy Griffis. Early Billingsleys lived in Chilton and Autauga Counties. Thanks for any information you may be able to give me. Pat Salis in Texas
