I am looking for information about Elijah and Elisha McCurdy, twin brothers that were born in Jackson County, AL February 28th 1893.
The twins were the sons of Preston H. and Addie Anderson McCurdy.
In the 1900 census the Preston McCurdy family are listed as living at Kirby’s Mill, Beat 24, Section, Jackson County, AL
The 1910 Census has the family of Preston McCurdy living in Valley Head, DeKalb County with Elijah and Elisha both 17 years of age and laborers on the farm.
At the age of 24 both Elijah and Elisha registered for the 1917-1918 WWI draft. Elijah’s middle name is not listed. He is single, a farmer, living in Precinct 28 of DeKalb County, born Feb 28, 1893.
Elisha’s middle name is Ryan according to his 1917-1918 draft registration card. He is 24 years of age and was born Feb. 28th, 1893. He is single and farming and lives in Precinct 28 of DeKalb County.
In 1920 they are still living in Valley Head, the twins are 26 years old. Elijah is working for the Railroad and Elisha is a laborer on the farm. They are both single and living with their parents.
I know Elijah married Ophelia Pace. Their children were Cleo, Edith, and Essie. Ophelia died in 1929. Elijah’s estate was dispersed between 1936 and 1940. Details of his estate can be found in the DeKalb County, Alabama Court House in Box 8 File 3
I am most interested in any information anyone might have about Elijah and Elisha McCurdy. What happened to Elisha? I can find no information about him after 1920. Did he migrate to another state? Where is he buried?
