I thank you for your wife's Jordan info. John Daniel Jordan was a direct descendent of Richard Jordan, b. ca 1620, England or Virginia, who married Elizabeth Reynolds. Both were buried in Surry County, Va. Richard was not related to the infamous Samuel Jordan of Jordan's Landing, Virginia.

How much do you know of the parents of John Daniel Jordan?
His father was John Jordan, b. ca 1784, SC. He married abt 2824 to Mary Eliza Pelham (Pellom, Pellum, Pellam), dau of Ambrose Pelham, Sr. and wife Penelope McMillan or Lydia Kirkland. John's parents were believed to be Nathan Jordan and Jennie Sexton of Barnwell County, SC.

In one of the history books of Baker County, Ga, James Jordan was listed as being the father of Nathan Jordan. I have never seen the article, but members of the family have.

We have a large gap from Richard Jordan to James or Nathan Jordan, but Richard's son, John, is more than likely our direct ancestor. Past John, I do not know.

From what Cotten family do you descend? My line if of the John Cotton of Bertie County, NC line. His son was Alexander Spotswood Cotton/Cotten, His son was Abner Cotton/Cotten; His son was Radford L. Cotton; His son was West Florida Cotton; His dau was Sarah Cotton, who married Ambrose Jackson Jordan, son of Ambrose Pelham Jordan, John Daniel Jordan's brother.

Regards,

Thomas Kraig Spivey
