Mary Ann,
I am sorry for your loss. When you go to the site for say Nancy Gilmore, hit on edit and it will take you to "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". It will take you to a blank message screen that goes to the memorial founder. I usually say something like "Please consider transferring this memorial of my family member to me so I may provide a bio and additional information". Also list your personal Find a Grave id number. Most people will transfer the memorial but some think they own the memorials. Then you have to contact find a grave and explain that you have a family member memorial that the founder will not transfer. They take care of it then. Families come first at Find a Grave.
Let me know if you have any problems and I will be happy to help.
My earliest ancestor was Stephen Gilmore and Amy Matthews of Cumberland Co., NC.
