I am a beginning geneaologist and I am looking to trace the family of my grandfather, Gillis Lavelle Payne. While others have shared their Payne research with me, I am now looking for information on my g-grandmother, Nancy Elminor Smith, who was married to Dillard Blackburn Payne. Her father was Thomas Payne of Five Mile, AL and her mother was Elmina Smith. I believe that Thomas had an elder brother, Mathew. I know that there is a Reverend Levi Smith in the family, because I heard my grandfather speak of him. Can anyone help?
