There is a J.H. Leslie age 34 b. TN in the 1850 census of Tuscaloosa County (Hale did not become a county until 1867 - it was taken from Tuscaloosa, Greene, Perry and Bibb)

He is living with a Benjamin Hassell 40 b. NC next to a Charles Leslie 26 b AL and wife (?)Louisa A 15 b. AL
