I have been searching for my Hugh Hope Allison's parents for several years. He was born in 1794 and married in Rutherford Co. TN. Just lately with Google, I found a listing of a Hugh H. Allison and Thomas Allison in Greene Co. Ala. I had thought his father might be a Thomas Allison since he named a son Thomas. Is anyone else connected to these Allisons, or know their origin? I have thought they might be connected to the York Co. SC Hugh Allison and Margaret Hope who had a son named Thomas. Below is the material: PERSONS NAMED IN GREENE COUNTY, ALABAMA ORPHANS COURT RECORD "B" 1824 - 1829 Greene County, Alabama was formed in 1817. This is one of the earliest records of the county. Some of the names in this document were of persons who had died and whose estates were administered by the Orphans Court. Others were heirs to those estates. Still others were attorneys, executors of estates or guardians of minor heirs. In some cases, the named individuals were commissioners appointed by the court to appraise property. Finally, there were occasional entries for miscellaneous reasons, such as a request to erect a water mill on a local waterway. Every effort was made to copy the names correctly but, sometimes, it was impossible to determine the correct spelling. Frequently, the recorder changed the spelling of a name between entries. Alternative spelling is shown in parentheses. This record is located in the Probate Court Office in the Greene County Courthouse at Eutaw, Alabama. Compiled by: Joseph F.
