Calvin -- I am descended from this line of folks and have not been able to confirm some critical information. As passed to me by relatives, Sarah McMillian b 15 Dec 1766 married abt 1785 in NC to Everett Yerby b 13 Dec 1762 (birthplace given variously as Union, SC or Lancaster, VA). This Sarah was supposed to be the daughter of "a" James McMillian who was the son of Alexander McMillian. A 1761 Granville, NC will abstract lists Alexander and Phoebe McMillian with children Ammon (b 1760 Granville), James, Henry B., Matthew, Susana (Beckham), and Jerusha (Basket). This James could be the father of Sarah and, therefore, brother of Amon. It is alleged that he served in the Rev. War (not confirmed) and that he was a minister (not confirmed). An April 13, 1823 Tuscaloosa Co., AL will for Amon McMillian lists wife, Martha and children Allen (c1795), Elizabeth, James, William (c1788), Jeremiah (c1795), Margaret (Griffin)(c1782), Phebe (Rhone)(c1790), and Mary (Poe)(c1790). The inserted birhtdates were found in other sources and are approx. I see no Asa. My interest in this family is that Everett and Sarah (McMillian) Yerby name one son, Amon Yerby bc1794 NC. Amon Yerby is my ancestor. There has to be some very close association between Sarah (McMillian) Yerby and Amon McMillian but I have not been able to positively connect the dots. If the above speculation is correct, Amon McMillian would be Sarah's uncle. Amon Yerby, Allen McMillian, and James McMillian witnessed Amon McMillian's aforementioned will which was probated on 2 Nov 1825. I believe Amon McMillian's son James married Nancy Sparks and there has been some folks crossing up the info on these Jameses. Charter members of the Bethel Baptist Church, organized Jan 31, 1818 in Tuscaloosa Co. included Everett Yerby, James McMillion (don't know which one), Sally Yerby, Sarah Yerby, Amon Yerby, John Yerby, and Rachel Yerby. Then a year later, Jul 31, 1819, an entry reads that James McMillion and Nancy (wife) were received by letter. An inference could be drawn that two different James McMillions are identified here, but can't prove it from the available info. Would appreciate any clarification you might have. regards, Jim N.
