Hi,

I was told that the Mahala Porter you mentioned was the daughter of Thomas B. Porter and Mahala McCraw. Somewhere, I remember reading that the mother Mahala wasn't a McCraw, but a Porter as well. I don't know anything about this Porter line, but as I understand, a census record of Fayette Co., has the Thomas Porter family with wife Mahala and a child Samuel M. Perkins listed. I can't find my papers, so I can't confirm that or tell you the census year, but I remember because I wondered why there was a Perkins child in a Porter household. I figured it must have been a grandchild.
