Looking for information on Harriet J Stephenson
born: 6 May 1828 Tennessee
married: Samuel M Stephenson
died: 3 May 1857 Berry, Fayette, Alabama
buried: Tabernacle Cemetery near Berry, Fayette, Al
Harriet J is buried next to a plot of Jones Infants and I beleive she was a Jones, but have not been able to prove this theory or to locate a marriage record for them. They probably married ca 1845 as their first child was born in 1846.
Harriet and Samuel M Stephenson and their family were in the 1850 U S Census of Fayette County living in a house next to John Jones.
After locating her burial place about 5 years ago, we have done some minor repairs to her headstone and her 1 day old son, Elliott Jackson Stephenson. We have placed flowers on their graves around the last week end in May of each year. Don't know when Decoration Day is, sometime prior to the time we usually go as flowers are already out.
There has never been any flowers on the Jones childrens graves until this year.
Someone placed a single red peony on the following graves:
each Jones
a Cornelius lady
Harriet J Stephenson
they placed a field stone & flower on an unmarked space between Harriet J Stephenson Elliott Jackson Stephenson
If anyone has information on Harriet J Stephenson's maiden name parents or siblings, please come forward as I can use all the help I can get.
