U.S. States: Alabama: Etowah County

The following is in an article in the new Heritage of Etowah County. I can make a copy and snail mail it if need be. :
The area called Big Wills Valley was initially home to the Cherokee Indians. Chief Cuyuga was the father of Chief Duck for whom Duck Springs is named. The name, Kyuka, was derived from Cheif Cuyuga. It is said that he resided near a large spring. As the valley was settled, one of the earlier families was the Yancey family. Old maps identify the big spring that is now known as Kyuka Waters as the Yancey Spring.
There is another article on the area also:
Duck Springs was originally part of Dekalb County and was settled by William Landers, Thomas F. Lamar, Robert Gaines, Thomas Gates, Thomas Capehart, Warwick Bristow, David Sibert. (paraphased) Chief Duck is buried on a hill overlooking the spring. A pile of rocks marks his grave.
