I don't know that I can be of much help, but here it goes. I am decended from the Chadwick line. However, in the 1860 census of Tennessee, my Chadwicks are spelled Shadwick. Some of Peter Shadwick (Chadwick's) children ended up in Gadsden, Ala. It's possible that his children could have kept different spellings of their last name. You can e-mail me for more information. You can also check out my website. It's just bare-bones and still under construction.
