Matthew M. Owens, 1854 Blount and Etowah Co, AL

Matthew M. Owens was the son of Martha?, born abt 1830. I suspect Martha was married to an Owens man around 1853--but he probably died around that time. After 1853, I suspect she gave birth to Matthew M. I don't know if his name was ever listed anywhere as Matthew M. Owens prior to 1880 Census, because Martha Owens remarried to a William Davidson in 1858. From 1860 and 1870 Blount County, AL Censuses, Matthew M. is referred to as having the last name of Davidson. Then, in the 1880 Etowah County, AL Census, Matthew and his sister Frances, b 1851, are listed in the household of Nancy Davidson (William Davidson's widow) as Matthew M. Owen and Frances Owen. Nancy Davidson is identified as the head, with Martha Davidson the daughter (really the daughter in law) and Matthew M Owen and Frances Owen are identified as the grandchildren. Matthew M Owens married Venette Adaline Moody and they had only one child, John Wiley Owens.

My question, who was Martha married to before she married William Davidson and what was Martha's maiden name. Anybody out there who connects with this family, I would appreciate hearing from YOU.

Martha's father was b. in Georgia, as was her mother--but she was born in Alabama. Matthew M Owens was born in Alabama, as well as both her parents.

I have a picture of Matthew's 2 sisters. It was taken in Texas.

Anyone out there who can help?
