When my grandmother lost her father at age 13 in 1895, she went to live for a couple of years with TILLISON / TILLERSON relatives at
Hokes Bluff in ETowah Co. I know that her mother's brother Aaron Lease Tillerson went to AL, and I think that is probably the family she stayed with. Aaron Lease Tillerson was son of Spencer Tillerson and Nancy Asalee Holman of Hall Co. GA. This leads to another question. I am familiar with the Tillison Bend community in Etowah Co. and the Tillison Cemetery on the road behind Baptist Hospital in Gadsden.
The oldest graves in that cemetery are Spencer Tillison and his wife Margaret Owen.
My ancestor Spencer Tillerson was born ca. 1820 SC and died 1880, buried at Hog Mountain Baptist Church in Hall Co. GA. The Spencer Tillison buried in Gadsden was born in 1791. I don't know what relation they are, but the recurrence of an unusual first name like Spencer with an unusual last name like Tillison / Tillerson is probably too much to be conincidence. Anybody have a clue as to how these Tillison/Tillersons are
related?
