Joy - Are you a descendent of Marshall Nicholson's? I have some information on him. From a book on Alabama history, I have that "Marshall Morton Nicholson was a lieutenant in the Civil War under Capt. Henry Small in Co. B, 3rd Confederate Calvalry. He returned to the farm after the was and farmed it until his death in 1914. He was married to (1) Rebecca Bynum (Dec.7,1841-Aug.18,1888) and (2) Sarah A. Newman (April 10,1850-Oct.8,1920). All three of them are buried in the family cemetery at Nicholson Gap." I have been to the cemetery and have photos of their graves. Also, I have a copy of some stories he dictated about his war experiences. I don't seem to find any information about children other that stones I photographed at the cemetery. My pictures are of one stone for Marshall Martin Nicholson Born and died Sept. 9, 1887 (?) and a stone inscribed with "children of Marshall M. and Rebecca B. Nicholson" that I can't read well but one name is Willie E. Nicholson Born May 29, 1880 with the other child's birth year as possibly 1882...
Hope this helps. What is your Nicholson connection?
