CATHERINE ANNE CLAMPET SANDERS [b. 1820] married in 1835 to HARDY HOLMAN SANDERS [b. 1816 Tennessee] in Madison County Alabama. Their children were born around LOST CREEK, Franklin County, Tennessee. They also lived in Lincoln County, Tennessee at some point in time. By 1860 they were back in Alabama, Marshall County. [I do not know how long they stayed there.] However, by September 30, 1882 Catherine had been widowed and she acquired 40 acres of land in DEKALB COUNTY, ALABAMA. Catherine was a herbalist and I believe also a mid-wife, as my Grams ELIZA ANN HENDREN SANDERS [1869-1969] called her a doctor. She had taught Grams about herbs and had delivered some of her babies ~ somewhere in the northeast corner of Alabama. By 1882, I suspect, since Catherine had been widowed, that she wanted to be near a daughter or possibly son that resided in DEKALB County. [To help with more babies, perhaps?] OR, DEKALB County was where they were living when HARDY died. Catherine's widowed mother, REBECCA NICHOLSON CLAMPET did this with Catherine's sister that married a MAPLES in Alabama ~ lived with them to help with the babies. Then, when the MAPLES moved to Texas County, Missouri, Rebecca went too, and is where she died in 1880. CATHERINE and HARDY's children were: John H. SANDERS, born 1836 George H, born 1838 MELVINA J. (Jane-?), born 1840 EMILY, born 1842 ELIZABETH, born 1844 William or Wiley, born 1846 MALINDA, born 1848 Hardy H, born 1850 Pinkney, born 1852 ~ killed between 1861-1865 Andrew Masten, born 1854 [my Grandfather] TRISSA "Trissy", born 1856 Isaac, born 1858 And, perhaps one more in 1860, or deceased twin to one of the above. If anyone has information regarding my Great Grandmother Catherine, I would be forever greatful. Does anyone do look-ups in DeKalb? I would really like to know where she is buried. I have a long string of info on her before she married the elusive HARDY HOLMAN SANDERS that I would share. Thanks, Annie
