There was a White Sulphur Springs Hotel in Sulphur Springs, Beat 13, in the 1880's. It was built by a Mr. Hanna of Rising Fawn, GA.
On this property were white sulphur, black sulphur or alum, freestone, and limestone springs. I grew up in that community and always heard there were seven different knids of water but have never been able to verify this. Some of the springs were destroyed by a swimming pool built after the property was taken over by the YWCA out of Chattanooga.
The hotel was supposedly a booming business in the 1880's. People came from all over the South to partake of the mineral waters which were supposed to have healing benefits.
