I want to share information about my great uncle:

(I f) James W. Brown born Sept 1834 NC died after 1900 Walker’s Chapel Cemetery, DeKalb County, AL

Sixth of maybe ten children of Polly Powell / Mrs. Mary Brown 1803-1883 and Jesse Brown 1793-1850, great grandson of William Brown ~1687-1757 and Margaret Peggy Fleming Brown 1701-1801 from Londonderry, County Ulster, Ireland then Rowan County, rezoned Greensboro, Guilford County, NC.

spouse: Catharine or Catherine ? born April 1829 GA

(I f 6) Adelia Brown also Adelia Brown Smith born July 1, 1865 died July 30, 1945 buried at Black Oak Cemetery, Cherokee County, AL just south of DeKalb County line! husband: John J. SMITH born Nov 17, 1854 died Sept 21, 1932
(I f 7) Anoma Brown (female) born 1867
(I f 8) unknown child Brown born 1860s

1860 Census, Page 439, Sugar Valley, Gordon County, GA, Family 1346/1318 they are already married and living in Sugar Valley, Gordon County, GA
James W Brown age 25 (1860 - 25=1835) [Sept 1834 per 1900 census] SC (NC per 1850 & 1880)
(maybe James William Brown) "carpenter".
Catharine (wife) age 30 (1860 - 30=1830) [1830 per 1900 census] born GA, (maiden surname unknown)
children:
Mary C. Brown               7 yrs, (1860 - 7=1853)
Robert S Brown               5 yrs, (1860 - 5=1855)
Elvgia J (Eliza)(maybe Elizabeth)3 yrs, (1860 - 3=1858)
Nancy E Brown              1/12        (1860 –1m=1860)
(Nancy not on next census so, may have died young in Sugar Valley, GA).

1870 Census Series M593, Roll 153, Page 23, Sugar Valley, Gordon County, GA, Family 996/889 they are still living in Sugar Valley.

1880 Federal Census Cherokee County, Alabama living at Blue Pond near Round Mountain, AL Soundex B650, Vol 4, Enum Dist 20, Sheet 12, Line 4, Beat #10, Blue Pond, Cherokee Co, AL.
James Brown, white male age 45, farmer, born NC, father born NC, mother born VA (first time that I saw VA instead of NC ! ).
Catharine Brown wife, age 50 keeping house, born NC both parents born NC.
Albert Brown son, age 18, born GA, both parents born NC.
Adelia Brown daughter, age 15, born GA, parents born NC.
Anoma Brown daughter, age 3, born GA (1877), father born NC, mother born GA (note: definite error, Catharine was born NC).
Neighbors: Tucker, Lell, Jeffrey, Hope, Foiseler, Carrel.

1900 living at Walker’s Chapel in DeKalb County Alabama census states: married 49 years, mother of 8 children, 5 of those children living during 1900.
Per family Letter #4 dated 27 Sept 1877: moved to Round Mountain, Cherokee County, Alabama
Per 1900 Census moved to DeKalb County Alabama

Samel H Foster (spelled without "u") white male born Oct 1822, age 77 yrs old married 5 yrs, born SC, father born SC, mother born SC, Occupation: ? rison ? (ng--1-1 written over it) Owned home (not rented), owned free (not mortgaged), house (not farm)
Wife: Mary C. Foster white, born 1852, age 47 yrs, born Georgia, father born NC, mother born NC Number of years married: 5, mother of how many children: 2, number of these children living 2. (children are not in household, so maybe from previous marriage and are now grown and moved out)
Need to research Blue Pond, Round Mountain area, Cherokee Co., AL for 1st spouse and these 2 children. (note: she is 30 years younger than second husband and he dies soon and she may have remarried later)

1909 family letter says, Samuel Foster and Mary C. Brown Foster moved to Etowah Co Keener, Precinct 9, AL

Mary Foster mother of head of household, white age 57 yrs, widow, 2 births, 2 children living, Mary states that she and both her parents were born in Georiga.
J. W. Brown head of household, male white, 29 yrs, married 6 years born AL, father & mother born GA, laborer, farm,
Lula Brown, wife, white female 29 years old, married 6 years, 3 births, 2 children living, Lula & both her parents were born in AL.
Children of J.W. Brown & Lula: Tom? W. Brown, son, 5 years old born AL Jessie Brown, son, 3 years old born AL (note: named after his great grandfather Jesse Brown) W. W. Geiger, boarder white male 30 years old.
Neighbors: George Little, Will Sullivan, Annie Martin, Cyrus Goelier?, John Mcebray?, Jack Evans.

(I f 5) Albert H. Brown also James Albert H. Brown born 1862, by 1909 moved to DeKalb Co, AL. In Nov 2002, contacted by Glenda Houston stating he is named James Albert H. Brown & father of Robert Sibley Brown per Robert's wife Estelle Watts Brown who states James Albert H. Brown is buried in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery, AL which is near border of Cherokee County and DeKalb County and south of Fort Paine.

husband: John J. SMITH born Nov 17, 1854 died Sept 21, 1932 block K-8 possible children buried there. His parents and relatives are buried next to him. Please, read the Summary of Adelia V. Brown Smith for names & dates.
