Rick, I have acquired some letters written in 1917/18 to Sarah Horton by a Walter White. There are about 18 of them. These letters tell a story that builds to the murder of Jesse Polk Horton in Dekalb Co AL. According to Arnold Horton Wilson, Walter killed Jesse after a confrontation that took place when Jesse walked into his home and found Walter there. Walter was married and Jesse told him to stay away from his daughter, but based on the letters, Walter was madly in love with Sarah and wouldn't stop pursuing her. Jesse through Walter out, Jesse then followed him in his buggy with a loaded shotgun, another confrontation took place resulting in the death of Jesse. Sarah Ellen Horton is my g/grandmother's first cousin. Jesse was the brother of my g/grandmother's father Preston Terry Horton. I'm trying to verify this info I've received and learn more if possible. Can you tell me the name of any newspapers published in Dekalb Co, Grove Oak specifically, in 1919/20. Jesse was killed on May 12, 1919 by Walter. I was hoping there would be a story about the case in the newspaper. I'd like to find out more about this tragedy. Thanks for any help.
