Jan, Do you have any more clues on the area where your ancestors lived ?? A town/community name ??

I went to Black Oak Creek Cemetery today and walked the whole thing. Not the first Yates - at least not in a marked grave. There were as many graves marked only with fieldstones as there were with tombstones.

I had an Uncle with me that took me to a person's house in the neighborhood. He told me that there is a Black Creek Cemetery near Collinsville in Dekalb Co, which would be several miles from Black Oak Creek. This Black Creek Cemetery is on Lookout Mountain between Collinsville and Centre and North of Gadsden. It is very near where Dekalb, Cherokee and Etowah counties join and he wasn't sure which county it is in. Rick
