Hello all, I am researching Archibald "Archie" Smith Keahey. He was b. 31 Dec 1845 in Dale County, Alabama and family trees suggest that he died 23 April 1914 in Erath County, Texas. I have written Texas Vital Records and they do not have a record of Archibald passing away in Texas. I have his wife as Martha E. Roberson b. 4 May 1844 Tippah County, MS and d.13 Nov. 1934. They had 12 children: Ann Margaret (my lineage), Benjamin Franklin, Ella Malinda, Emaline Martha, George Reed, James Thomas, John Wesley, Joseph Monroe, Mary Adeline, Myrtie Irene, Theodocia A., and William Henry. The 1900 Fed. Census has Archibald's family living in Erath County, Texas, while the 1910 Fed.Census has the family living in Streeter, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma. Most family trees here and on ancestry.com show James and Lydia Keahey as Archibald's parents, but the 1880 Fed. Census lists a Martha living in his household and lists her relationship to Archibald, head of household, as Mother. Going further back Archibald as a 5 year old in 1850 was living in the George Burder Keahey household listed at the end of the family listing after a 29 year old Martha. Based on the census documentation, I do not believe James and Lydia to be Archibald's parents. The name of his father is one of my road blocks which might be answered on a birth or death certificate, family Bible listing, or military service pension (if any). Thank you for taking the time to read this query. Any help on this would be very much appreciated! Notify Administrator about this message?
