I was wondering if anyone had any information on John Crockett Hood who married Mary Emaline (or Elizabeth) Sellers. I am conducting research for a friend whose great grandmother is Madonna Elizabeth Hood and she has found out that Madonna's parents are John Crockett Hood and Mary Elizabeth (?) Sellers. I have the 1870 Dale County, Alabama Census:J. C. Hood, 24, farmer, born in AL; M. E., wife, 23, born in AL; M. E., daughter, 3, born in AL; G. A., son, 1, born in AL. I believe that the M. E., daughter, 3, is our Madonna, and they were in the same Post Office as Madonna's future husband's family. I also have the 1880 Holmes Co., FL Census, where I think this family moved to: John Hood, 35, born in AL, parents born in NC, farmer; Mary, wife, 34, born in AL, father born in GA, mother born in AL; Madonna, 13, born in AL; Gustavus, 11, born in AL; Susan, 9, born in AL; Mary, 7, born in AL; Charles, 5, born in AL; Edwin, 3, born in AL; Oliver, 1, born in AL. I have been operating on the assumption from two sources at rootsweb that this John Hood who married Mary Sellers was the son of Daniel Stone Hood and Elizabeth Jane Jernigan. But, those sources give John's middle name as "Cogdell" and not "Crockett," so now I am thoroughly confused. I'd really appreciate any help - Thanks so much.
