Edward Homer HILDRETH, born 8 June 1874 in Greenville, Butler Co., Alabama and
died 20 May 1965 in Orlando, FL; (the son of Robert Henry Jackson and Julia Spikes
Hamner HILDRETH, the grandson of Benjamin and Jemima Dowling HILDRETH - Dale, Coffee and Butler Co., Alabama).
Edward Homer HILDRETH was a salesman for Singer Sewing Machine Company. Bob
Holley remembers “grandpa HILDRETH, getting up in the morning, putting on a fresh
white shirt, tie and his suit and then going and sitting on the front porch of his house.”

Edward Homer HILDRETH + married (1.) Ida Belle Marsh, born 24 January 1876 in
Enterprise, Alabama and died 19 August 1915 in Enterprise, Alabama - “With tears
welling up in his [Roy Hamner Hildreth’s] eyes, he could remember it as though it were
yesterday. It was a hot day in August and her coffin was transported by a big black hearse
wagon about 5 miles outside of town [Enterprise, Alabama] to Calvary Church where she
was buried. Roy remembered walking along behind the wagon holding on to the corner
crying. He could still feel the hot dirt burning his bare feet as he walked down the dusty
road. He never felt more alone in his life than he did when he walked back home.” (Ida
Belle Marsh was the daughter of Mark and Georgia Marsh.) [Ida Belle Marsh had a
daughter when she married Edward Homer HILDRETH by the name of Clyde Marsh who
was born about 1893. She married John Watkins.]

1.) Early Lee HILDRETH, born 19 November 1894 in Enterprise, Alabama and died 8
May 1958, married Daisy Jane Smith on 8 April 1916.
2.) Edward Roscoe HILDRETH, born 2 March 1897 in Enterprise, Alabama and died
October 1978.
3.) Mattie Mae HILDRETH, born 6 Oct 1899 in Enterprise, Alabama and died 9
February 1984 in Orange Co., Florida, married Otis Thomas Parker on 29 July 1917 in
Columbus, Georgia.
4.) William Love HILDRETH, born 17 February 1903 in Enterprise, Alabama and died
22 November 1960 in Miami, Florida, married Myrtice Hobbs.
5.) Roy Hamner HILDRETH, born 18 March 1907 in Enterprise, Alabama and died 15
February 1979 in Milton, Florida married 1.) Eva Smith and 2.) Dolly Victoria Elizabeth
Aplin Holley 13 July 1954 in Milton, Florida.
6.) Fletcher Bell HILDRETH, born 1 October 1911 in Enterprise, Alabama and died
November 1980, married Ada Marie.
7.) Fred HILDRETH, born 17 May 1914 in Enterprise, Alabama and died 24 January
1916, in Enterprise, Alabama.

Edward Homer HILDRETH + married (2.) Pearl Lucille Cotton, born 24 September 1897
in Daleville, Alabama and died 23 November 1946 in Enterprise, Alabama; (the daughter
of Charlie and Eula Jane Cotton). [Pearl Lucille Cotton had a daughter when she married
Edward Homer HILDRETH by the name of Melba Virginia TAYLOR who was born 20
november 1914. She married Tommy Dukes].
