Part 2
Info I have on Alabama Mark Lott (1814-1886)
He was born in 1814 somewhere in South Carolina. In 1830 he was in Campbell, Ga.In 1840, he was in Benton County, Alabama. In 1841, he married Parthenia Francis Burgess. He named his first son John (1842) after his father in law. (custom)His first daugh is named Mary(1845) but I do not who she is named after since custom was to name her after wife's mother and I have her name as Clara. The rest of his children with Parthenia are Mark W, Winnie, Richard, and W.E. Lott.
In 1854, Mark and Parthenia Lott donated land to build the County Line Church. The article I read list Mark and his wife Francis.I believe this was probably done after the death of his father.I believe it was his father who lived in Clay County.
In 1862, Parthenia died. In 1863, Mark married Elizabeth Clark.Their children are Mary, Robert, Clark, Ulsys, Geet, Laura and Asbury.
Mark Lott died in 1886.He owned over 900 acres.I do not believe he owned slaves. His will was probated in 1900 after the death of Elizabeth Clark. He was buried in Antioch Cemetary.I do not have a copy of the entire will, just one page that was passed down to me.It just listed a few signatures.I plan on visiting the cemetary during Spring Break.
