I have an adoption that I am trying to trace in the Nichols family Thomas Douglas Nichols b 1849 and Atinette Colista Cook Nichols b 1847, adopted in Clay Co. Lineville area Witt Nichols born April 11 1888 Clay Co. They moved to Blount Co. Area. His father was Thomas Jefferson Nichols, Justice of the peace where he live in Lineville, believe buried in the Old Lineville cemetery, Don't guess you would have any missing children, there was a Van Nichols in the area, but believe him to be Moses Van Nichols. A Sarah L Nichols is also living with Thomas D. Nichols' sister Mary E. Nichols Sanders, husband George, she is listed as NEICE and is 17 in 1900. Witt was 12 on the first census I find her in in 1900. It has been rumored she had brother named Frank but I have no confirmation on that.
Thomas J Nichols wife Louvinia Owens both from GA.
