Walker--Wood connection

Okay, this gets confusing, so bear with me.

This concerns Elijah Clark Walker, son of Luvicy Phillips and Henry Walker. He married an Eliza Unknown. I just found a record that states that Elijah C. Walker married Eliza Walker September 26, 1847 in Talladega Co., Alabama. Thing is, on the 1850 census, they have at least three children (Elijah, Martha L., and Andrew Jackson) who would have been born before this date! The possibility occured to me -- and I have no proof for this -- did Elijah C. Walker maybe marry a widow of his brother's? Or was Eliza related to Elijah C. Walker before marriage? Anyone know anything that could help me out with this?

Okay, the other thing is, the only other child of Luvicy Phillips and Henry Walker that I know of is Mariah Walker. She married James Pinckard and, after hsi death, John Wood. She married John Wood October 5, 1828, in Coweta Co., GA. Well, Mariah died in 1858. Her brother died also around this time -- sometime between the 1850 and the 1860 census. Elijah's widow, Eliza, is listed with their children on the 1860 census. On the 1870 census, however, Eliza is married to a John Wood, and it appears to be the John Wood who was married to Mariah! The thing that confuses me is, Elijah and Eliza had twins, Maria and John, about 1853. The boy's full name is John Wood Walker. Where did the middle name come from? Did they name him that after his uncle or were the Walkers related to the Woods before Mariah's marriage?

Anyone have ANY info that might help?
Census
Elijah C. Walker -- Randolph Co., AL, 1850
Eliza Walker -- Randolph Co., AL, 1860
John Wood -- Clay Co., AL, 1870
