I'm relying on my memory since my notes are just piles of papers. I believe John Darrington purchased a large plantation which contained a large forest of cedar trees and was called at one time "Forbes Woods" from Col. Joseph Phillips who was the County Probate Judge. Col. Phillips' daugher, Mary Ann, married Reuben Saffold, a lawyer who became an Alabama Supreme Court Justice in Montgomery and then removed to Mobile where he practiced law. Some Phillipses and Darringtons moved to Sumpter Co., AL in the 1830's. If you are interested, I'll check my files for more detailed information..
