Caroline E. (Webb) Doyle

Caroline E. (Webb) Doyle, daughter of Henley Webb and widow of Daniel T. Doyle of Clarke County Alabama. Daniel was killed at Vicksburg on July 3, 1863. Caroline left Clarke County, along with six of her seven children, boarded a boat in Mobile headed for Galveston and, according to the 1870 census, had settled in Burleson County, Texas for awhile. At the time of the 1880 census, Caroline lived with her daughter Susan E. (Doyle) Dawson and son-in-law Isaac H. Dawson in McLennan County, Texas. The census records in Texas have misspellings of the name as Doil and Doyl.

Caroline's children who remained in Texas were:
Jesse B. Doyle b. 1838
Susan E. Dawson b. 1845
Aaron B. Doyle b. 1849
Bartlett Doyle b. 1858
Thomas B. Doyle b. 1863

Of her other two sons (William b. 1840 & Daniel b. 1843), it seems that one remained in Alabama and the other may have later returned to Alabama.

Caroline died in 1908 in Iredell in Bosque County. She was buried at Riverside cemetery in Iredell.

Any information on Caroline E. (Webb) Doyle, her ancestry or her children would be greatly appreciated. I am particularly interested in any information about her life in Clarke County, and when she left for Texas.
