William Albert Johnson/Addie May Johnson Hobson

My mother and I are trying to find information on my grandmother's side of the family. My grandmother's mother was Addie May Johnson (or maybe May Ferris Hamlin, though I'm not sure where this name is coming from). Her father was William Albert Johnson. Family lore says she was born on a plantation in Chilton County AL near Jemison (sp?). We have a wonderful family picture of Addie May with her family when she was perhaps 4 years old. In the picture were her parents, a brother and older sisters. They were in very fine clothes (maybe lending truth that her father did own a plantation). Addie May married Clinton Hobson, though I am not sure if this was in AL or not and they eventually wound up in the San Francisco area of CA.

My grandmother, and most of her family, has passed and we would really love to get more information on this side of the family.

Feel free to email me at

Thanks! Teresa
