Ok, I think I have some information. I just got a copy of the Chancery court records from Cherokee county. Dated 1st Monday of October 1860
A deed of trust on real estate was executed to Dozier Thornton as trustee by L.M. and F.E. Cox, however Dozier Thornton died on 10 June 1860 before foreclosing or settling said trust and R.B. Kyle was appointed trustee of the Deed of Trust in the place of Dozier Thornton.
Also, in the Cherokee county historyVol. II, --Dozier Thornton of King's Hill aka Slackland, came from Georgia. He died in 1868. N.M. Thornton and R.B. Kyle were administrators. R.B. Kyle had married Mary Allen Thornton, daughter of Dozier Thornton.
now this information contradicts what was found in the chancery court records and I do not know where the information of his date of death or his administrators came from.
Hope this helps some. there is no Dozier Thornton listed in the cemetery records for 1860 or 1868 in Cherokee county. He may be in an unmarked grave.
John
