I am trying to think of proper directions, but I don't remember all of the road names. From the Ballplay side, when the road splits, ( the other half is Croft Ferry Road), just stay to the right and follow the signs to Tabor Baptist Church. It is on Gidley Road ( the same as the famous Ballplay Christmas lights), immediately after Tabor church, there is a dirt road, it is Kershaw Quarters Road, but I think the sign is gone now.If you go straight down the road, there is a place where you can see the river to your right, then the road bends, the cemetery is at the top of the hill to the left. One has to scramble through a pine forest and it is in the hardwood part.I realize these are sketchy directions, but honestly, there aren't many landmarks, as the whole place has been taken over by pine trees.I don't think anyone has been out there in fifty years, prior to my going a few weeks ago.I got there with my grandmother's directions. She says as a very young child her grandmother would take her past there every once in a while. She said it was an old "niggra" grave yard, but one of her cousins thinks it was an Indian grave yard.It is amost hard to tell it is a cemetery, but if you are looking for it, it should be recognizable.the cemetery was there when Uncle Gid bought the land in 1910.If these directions are too vague, I can give my grandmother's phone number in Hokes Bluff, and maybe she can explain it better.
