Matilda Norris m. John Alexander McLain, their daughter, Elizabeth McLain m. Willis Berry Walley, and their daughter, Nebraska "Darlin" Walley m. Absolum Byrd and my great-grandmother Louisa Anabelle Byrd, "Lou", sometimes called Lou Wiley m. Wiley Thomas Sylvester. Grandma Lou, I have her name for my middle name, told many family members that her grandmother was Indian, she showed my brother a stick and told him, this is how we cooked our food. She was a mid-wife and mixed her own medicines. I asked this same question to another cousin who worked on the Norris line and she said Matilda was a red head and Irish, so it wasn't her..it had to be from the McLains..you may have solved that..we know Grandma wasn't a liar and she didn't make things up..are we from the same line? Would you share your Indian lineage with me? This is down the maternal line on my fathers family. I don't want to put my maiden name on the internet..email me @ Artantiques3@cs.com. I have gathered a lot of photos by others sharing with us of Grandma Lous family. Pat
