HI Dave,
Martin J. Kington (M.J. Kington on Cherokee Co. AL 1850 & 1860 census records. Married Martha J. Cannon. I'm trying to find the marriage record as I am not sure when the marriage to place or if they were even in AL when they married. Bird Cannon and Lucinda Morgan are the parents of Martha J. Cannon. I still have not found exactly where in TN Martin was born or who his parents are. He may be a really late born son of John Kington and Eleanor Caffrey or the son of William C. Kington or a son of one of Williamn's brothers. I have found one person's website that lists both a John G. Kington and a Martin Kington as a son of William C. Kington, but the person does not have any birth info or anything else just a list so I can't compare or verify their information which could be wrong which is most often what happens on these sites. Martin J. Kington was born in 1817-1819 (believed 1818 if 1860 census is correct on age). I found another person who obviously has some mixed up information on John Kington and Eleanor Caffrey who states John's parents were Martin J. Kington and Unk Cannon, but the only John he lists on the little posting is John Kington who was born in 1762 in Dinwiddie (Henry Co Va) so this part is incorrect although I suspect if he stopped and reviewed what he had it could be sorted out. Someone else does state that Martin's father is a John although I have no documentation to prove this. The list of the one guy's post of William's siblings does not list a John. I would have to estimate that it can not be John G. Kington son of Williamdue to age purposes. So I really am thinking the list of John Kington and Eleanor Caffrey's children may be incomplete. Or the Martin listed as William's son would have to be Martin J. I noticed another post on another site by a Dave and suspect you are the same. would love to exchange information on what you have as I noticed the post said N.J. Kington and suspect you may have come across a document that I don't have and may help me tie things up.
