Greenwood Family in St. Clair, Cherokee and DeKalb counties
Posted by: Anna Greenwood McDowell (ID *****5039) Date: June 02, 2010 at 22:22:27

Does anyone have information about the Greenwood family who left Virginia and settled in Madison County, TN around 1800 (or before) and then what later became St. Clair County, Alabama after it became a territory in 1810? My person was John Greenwood, whom I have found on the 1820 census for St. Clair. Also in St. Clair is William H., William R., D. and Joseph. There was also a Thomas who filed for a land grant in Huntsville, Madison County, AL in 1819.

I'm pretty sure they are all related but don't know who is the father, sons, uncle(s) or cousins.

My John was born in Virginia in 1788 - I know nothing of him between then and 1820.

Thanks,
Anna Greenwood McDowell
