The Cherokee County census for 1850 shows:
Vaughn, Harlwell (sic) 62 b. VA
Nancy 62 b. NC
Harlwell (sic) 21 b. SC
Jane 18 b. SC
There were no Vaughn families listed in the 1860 census.Following is information on Hartwell, Jr.:
"Served in Co. C (L.M. Stiff, Capt.) 6th GA Cav. Regt., Wheeler's Brigade, CSA (Cherokee Advertiser, 1891 and Jan. 21, 1892)Drew pension in Cherokee Co.Address: Round Mountain.Warrant #3362 of Oct. l, 1907 returned May 8, 1908.Pension application dated Jan. 7, 1893 gives rank as Pvt.Son of Hartwell Vaughn and Nancy Walls, born Feb. 7, 1829; died Dec. 10, 1906.Wife Elmanda Vaughn, born Apr. 11, 1829; died Feb. 21, 1906.Both buried Union Methodist Cemetery, Cherokee Co., AL"
I found no burial information for Hartwell, Sr. or his wife.
