Because of the recent interest in the Todd DNA project, I am posting this query: A DNA sample has been completed for Nathan Todd's descendant, and one is in process for Patrick's line. Does anyone know anything about Robert's family either in SC or in AL? There was also a Robert from Ireland in Anderson, SC.
In the late 1700's a Robert Todd from Ireland immigrated into Laurens, SC. One of his sons was Robert, Jr. This is how Robert, Jr.'s family appeared on the 1850 Laurens, SC census:
Robert Todd 47 M farmer $2500 SC
Naoma Todd 49 F
Sharlotte R. Todd 16 F
Andrew R. Todd 15 M
Sarah I? Todd 13 F
James I.? Todd 11 M
Mary E. Todd 8 F
Albinus R. Todd 21 M
Also there in 1850 was my ancestor:
Patrick Todd 82 M Farmer $3500 Ireland
Jane Todd 79 F Ireland
James McFall 20 M SC (Patrick's grandson)
Caroline Reed 21 F
Jeramiah Turner 70 M blind
Sarah Turner 26 F
Martha Turner 10/12 F
I am not sure who the Reed and Turners were. Patrick left $200 in his will for Caroline Reed. She might have been a care taker.
Patrick's son William lived next door:
William Todd 48 M Farmer $500
John C. 14
Before Patrick died in 1852, William moved to Chambers Co., AL.
This John Todd was John Caswell Todd who first married Amelia Pate and after the War Between the States married Louisa Yarbrough. One of his sons was named Albinas also a name in Robert's family. Patrick had another great grandson, Albinus, by his own son Andrew's, Andrew Wade. A lot of Todds were named Andrew and Patrick.
