Military School in Fredonia (1840-50)

Does anyone have information about a military school which evidently operated in Fredonia prior to the Civil War. According to my gr grandfather's NARA military records he attended such a school. Since he was born 1833 I am guessing that he attended sometime during the 1848-1851 period. Would appreciate any information.
