Hi Cathy,

The 1850 Census did not give information the parents of an indivdual like the 1880, 1900, 1910 did.

The 1880 census of Cherokee County most likely will give the state his parents were born in. I have a partial copy of it, but unfortunatly the part that gives that information was not copied.
