Hi! I am TRYING to get off this limb I am going out on. I am working off some information that I obtained from a family DAR history. According to this information, my gggggrandfather, John Charles Roper, moved to Benton County, AL, (which I have been told is now Calhoun County) to live with his son, John Charles Roper II, in the 1800's. There is a record of a pension application in November, 1839. At that time, John Charles Roper had moved to Benton County to live with his son, J. C. Roper II, who had moved there after the treaty with the Creek Indians. J. C. Roper supposedly lived there with his son until his death at Oak Level, AL, in December of 1852. Also, J. C. Roper II was married to Mary Margaret James in Gwinette County, GA, in June of 1823, and died in 1859 in AL. I am going out on the aforementioned limb to wonder if she died in Benton County. J. C. Roper II is buried in Lee County, MS, without Miss Mary. ANY information on these people would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, in advance, for any assistance! Feel free to post or email me directly! Bebe Roper Byerly
