Cleburne County, Alabama (formed from a parts of Calhoun, Randolph and Talladega counties in 1866) Wills and Inventories 1868 - 1884

Appraisors of the property were the three witnesses to the will. Value of estate was $7,860.64.

None of these Higginbothams were in old Benton, Calhoun or Cleburne counties in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census's, however there
were some Higginbothams in Randolph County, AL in 1850 census: Ephraim Higginbotham, wife Polly and chldren; William Higginbotham and wife Lucinda and children; Benjamin and Burrell Higginbotham and their wives and children; and Nelson Higginbotham, his wife Lucretia and children. William Kennedy and his wife Hulda were in Randolph Co., AL census in 1850 (living with Nancy Turner and her family); and Joshua R. Kennedy family, Hezekiah Kennedy family, with Joshua Kennedy and his wife Nancy living next door in Randolph Co., AL in 1850 census.

There are Higginbothams in 1860 census for Randolph Co., AL as well as many Kennedys.

Nelson Higginbotham and his wife Lucretia are buried in Cleburne County, Alabama at the Chulafinnee Methodist Church Cemetery. There are four names on the same tombstone:
Nelson Higginbotham Aug 16, 1799 0 April 1872
Loucresa Higginbotham June 1800 - Nov 1868
Abaminta Higginbotham Oct 6, 1827 - Nov 24, 1890
B. Higginbotham Jan 2, 1824 (only date)

nearby is Bettie Watson Moore Higginbotham Aug 25, 1845 (grandmother)

F. Pinson Moore Oct 16, 1870 - Nov 9, 1950
G.P. Hughey April 4, 1846 - June 2, 1928

I don't know if any of the Higginbothams or Kennedys moved to Texas.

page 211 - - Inventory of the personal estate of the minor heirs of William F. Kennedy, deceased. H.C. Kennedy and ?? Kennedy named ??? by Burrell Higginbotham, executor of Nelson Higginbotham, deceased, guardian of the minor heirs of William F. Kennedy, deceased. (1874 - - no month given)
