Need help getting information on Lanis Crowe and his parents Ernest and Nora Phillips Crowe. This family lived in Calhoun and Etowah Counties Alabama
According to his Social Security application Lanis Junior Crowe was born in
O Hatchee, Alabama on Aug. 5, 1924 to Ernest and Nora Phillips Crowe. (Ernest is the son of Jessie and Eliza Putnam Crowe.) Lanis was 17 years of age and living at 317 West 16th Street Anniston, Alabama when he applied for his SS card. Lanis was working at Model City Lumber? Co.(not sure of spelling) in Anniston, Alabama.
According to his death certificate he died June 9, 1968 in Montague, Dallas Co. Texas and was born in MoMinnville, Tenn. on Aug. 5, 1926, his name is listed as Marvin Lanis Crowe son of Ernest and Nora Phillips Crowe. The person who gave the information on death certificate is listed as Mrs. Lois Crowe. At the time of his death he was working as manager of Credit Corp. It also states he served in World War II.
We know these two are the same man by the social security number and parents names. We have been told by Morris Crowe (brother to Ernest)that Ernest and Nora had a son named Marvin also. Due to circumstances we think Lanis may have taken his brothers name and birth date, if indeed Marvin and Lanis were two different people. Morris has told us that Ernest died in Tenn. while in prison.
Lanis was married at least twice, first to Jerald Maxine Burkett on December 08,1949
in Texas. On February 7,1953 he married Maxine Purcell.
We have also found where a Lanis Crowe and Bertha Mae Phillips had a daughter Peggy Ann Crowe on Sept. 16, 1948 in Taylor Co. Texas.
If anyone knows anything about any of the people above or can find out anything for us such as where Ernest and Nora died and if any of their children or still living. Also anything about Nora Phillips family. Please contact me if you can help in any way or can put me in contact with someone who may be able to help.
