SEEKING: DORRIS, WHITE, BUCHAN Family Ancestors
I am seeking information on my Great-Grandparents and ancestors beyond them. The following is known.
WHITE/BUCHAN:
Great-grandparents:Greenberry White (b. ~1825 in Alabama) and Elizabeth (Buchan) White (b. ~1841, LA).Both were in Winn Parish, Goodwater, LA, in 1860 census: “Green” (AGE 33) living with his mother, Susan, brothers Drury D and John, and Drury’s wife, Mary, and dau., Cordelia; Elizabeth (Age 19) living with her parents, Hector and Elizabeth Buchan, and 14 year old brother, James, also in Winn, Goodwater, LA.By the 1870 census, “Green” and “Lizzie” are married, have dau., Susan, and are living in Natchitoches Parish, LA.Lizzie’s parents, Hector and Elizabeth Buchan are also in Natchitoches at that time.Looking for ancestors to Greenberry White and the Buchan family.
DORRIS:
In this line I have only the names of my DORRIS Great-Grandparents:John DORRIS and “Miss Painter” (both living in ALABAMA at time of my grandfather’s birth, 1874, and his growing-up years) as found on my grandfather, William Edward DORRIS’s death certificate.I do not know the AL County(ies).[By 1899, or before, my grandfather had re-located to Ouachita Parish LA and married Mary Josephine White (dau. of Green and Elizabeth) that year.Looking for evidence of John Dorris and Miss Painter, their siblings, and their parents, etc.
Note: There is family-lore, though not confirmed, that one G or GG grandparent was American Indian, perhaps Choctaw.
Any help appreciated.
