That at least narrows it down to half the state. ;-)

Northern Alabama is as close as I've been able to get as well, and only indirectly through a Y-DNA match whose earliest known ancestors are confirmed to have been in Blount & Madison counties in the first decade or two after 1800. Our common ancestor is most likely from the generation or two prior to that.

The search continues.
